OpenAI Launches Locked Chats: Simple Privacy for ChatGPT Users

OpenAI Lets You Lock ChatGPT Conversations

OpenAI announced a new feature called Locked Chats — the ability to secure specific ChatGPT conversations with a four-digit PIN, Face ID, or Touch ID on supported devices. Unlike Temporary Chats, which disappear entirely from chat history, locked chats remain accessible — they simply move to a dedicated "Locked Chats" section with their own separate memory that doesn't mix with regular chat memory.

Why does this matter? More people and businesses are using ChatGPT for conversations that include sensitive information — strategic planning, financial data, or simply personal discussions they don't want exposed if someone else glances at the screen. The feature is rolling out across Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu plans (not available on ChatGPT for Healthcare), starting October 20.

Worth noting: locking a chat doesn't create end-to-end encryption or change how OpenAI stores the underlying data — it mainly restricts local, on-screen access. Small and medium business owners using ChatGPT for daily work should understand this limitation alongside the added convenience.

Google Brings Personalized Gemini to Your Car

Google launched "Personal Intelligence" for Gemini in Android Auto and cars with Google Built-in. The assistant can now draw on Gmail, Google Calendar, Maps, Photos, YouTube, and Search to provide personalized answers while driving. For example, you can ask Gemini about a flight status, and it will pull confirmation details from Gmail and check the status itself, or ask it to find and navigate to a place from a photo taken last week.

Use of personal data is strictly opt-in, and only works when the phone is connected to the car. The feature starts rolling out today on Android Auto, with support for Google Built-in vehicles (including Ford, GM, Honda, Nissan, Volvo, and Polestar) coming in the following months.

Also: Gemini Notebook Plans Before It Creates

Google also upgraded Gemini Notebook, its AI-powered note organizing tool. Before generating a slide deck or video, the tool now suggests topics drawn from your sources and lets you confirm decisions on formatting, visual style, and scope — plus review a final outline before the output is actually rendered. A small but meaningful change that gives small businesses and content creators more control over the final result, as AI agents increasingly become a natural part of daily workflows — much like office AI agents (such as those powering RealOffice.AI) are becoming routine tools for managing business tasks.
